Inspiration Lecture 2014 - Dr. Kellee Slater
Kellee Slater is a passionate general surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. She is one of only two female liver transplant surgeons in Australia and specialises in surgery for all diseases of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas. She has trained in Brisbane and in the United States in complex liver and pancreas surgery and liver transplantation.
Kellee has recently published a book titled “How to do a liver transplant” where she tells stories of flying across the Rockies in winter to collect transplant organs, rushing out of a department store change room to save the life of a toddler who is choking to death, and, horrifyingly, telling the wrong father in a hospital waiting room that there is no hope for his daughter.
