Name: Shane Cameron
Previous University: University of Western Sydney
Hometown: Blackheath, NSW
On the day that I learnt I had to write this biography, I left for the Blue Mountains (my hometown), to assist with the evacuation efforts, amidst the October Bushfires. With the evacuations now mostly over, I am sitting here, in the make-shift medical clinic of the Springwood Evacuation Centre, pondering what it is that I should write about my life. Although I can think of many things to write about – and believe me, I do love to write –, I am, unfortunately, limited with words; and you are surely limited with patience. Thus, I will keep it short and simple.
I grew up in the Blue Mountains, and what many people don’t know about me, is that I am, in fact, one of three (that’s right, a “triplet”). Curiouser and curiouser, I was conceived through IVF (in a petri dish), and so, I guess you can say that I am a little bit fancy!
I completed my nursing degree after graduating from high school, following which I worked (and later studied) in a small, albeit busy Emergency Department in Western NSW, before applying for and being accepted into medicine at UOW. I have always loved the outdoors and volunteering, which would explain why I am writing this biography... from an evacuation centre... surrounded by plumes of thick smoke and tall flames. Anyway, enough said.
